There are way more interesting things to check out on the World Wide Web
than this silly back-alley.
If you're bored already, why don't you take one of the following outs:
Stuff I do:
- jEdit- GPL'd programmer's text
editor. Written in java, uses Swing toolkit. I help out here and there.
- Plugin Central- jEdit's plugin
repository, created by yours truly and now maintained by others (mostly).
Stuff I like:
- Computers
- The GNU Project- project to
create a freely-available implementation of the UNIX operating system
(among other things).
- Linux- together with GNU, it
powers my computing life. I use it, I like it, `nuff said.
- sawfish- Sawfish is
an extensible window manager using a Lisp-based scripting language
--all window decorations are configurable and all user-interface policy
is controlled through the extension language.
- Perl Monks- a Perl focused
forum site that I enjoy frequenting and occasionally contributing
to.
- "Causes"
- Free Software-
just to drive home the point of that I support the GNU project, here's
another link to what it's all about. Free Software. that's right,
free. Not free as in free advice, but free as in free speech. Freedom,
baby.
- EFF- the Electronic Frontier
Foundation, is a non-profit, non-partisan organization working in the
public interest to protect fundamental civil liberties, including
privacy and freedom of expression, in the arena of computers and the
Internet.
- An Anarchist FAQ Webpage-
an interesting resource debunking many common myths regarding
Anarchism.
- A Guide to Formal Consensus-
On Conflict and Consensus, the definitive reference on the
decision-making process known as "Formal Consensus". Formal Consensus
is to consensus-based decision-making (i.e. synthetic, collaborative
decisions made by everyone in the group on the behalf of all) what
Robert's Rules of Order are to the mainstream, majoritarian method of
democracy. (Local copy)
- Collectivize!-
resources on cooperatives, collectivity, and communalism, by John
Curl
- East Bay Bicycle Coalition,
Bicycle-Friendly Berkeley Coalition,
Cyber Cycling- RIDE A
BIKE! I used to ride my bike 4+ miles to work every day and I
loved it, but I moved to L.A. and take the train now. I wish I could
still get by without a car for running errands and stuff, but this
ain't Berkeley. Poor me.
- NORML- National Organization
for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (FREE UP THE
HERB!)
- Linguistics
- NTL- Neural Theory
of Language project at UC Berkeley's ICSI (International Computer
Science Institute). A project headed by George Lakoff and Jerry Feldman
to work out a coherent neural model of natural language production and
comprehension within the field of Cognitive Science.
- ICLA-
International Cognitive Linguistics Association
- Neuroscience
- Miscellanea
